When watching a certain metal filled music channel, I was expecting to see many things – skulls, CGI monsters, lots of people dancing around and pretending to play guitar. Usually it’s songs about being sad or angry (mostly at an ex or two). The last thing I was expecting was a jokey song called ‘underwear’ (I think the title says it all, or maybe it just gives the wrong impression). That was the point I looked them up and realised that I’d already listened to one of their songs: Tommy Gun. Too many bands take themselves seriously, so this was a nice change.
This Swedish band brings a mixture of strong guitar sounds, disco beat and touch of comedy in the lyrics to make some very entertaining music. They pump a sense of fun into most of their stuff, from the predicaments in their love lives (President’s Daughter), and battles for the fate of the planet (Full Steam Space Machine, well, the video version at least) to creating their music videos.
YouTubers seem rather disturbed about this song. Apparently America is the only country with a president (and one particular video seems to cause people to spill food in their keyboards, just a warning if you’re eating anywhere around YouTube).
This song is pretty slow compared to their other stuff, with a plodding riff, but it’s still got a lot of energy and a catchy beat. It sounds a lot like a classic rock song with modern instruments. The lyrics wouldn’t be out of place on an AC/DC album and they’re pretty fun to listen to.

This one is a dramatic story about alien invasion (aliens that drool a lot according to the video). Well, without the additional dialogue in the video the meaning seems a bit different, but I’m not going there. It’s an extremely energetic song and one of the songs where they experimented with making a disco beat with a guitar. I’d say the experiment was a success.
The video for this song was made for Youtube. Apparently it was almost done in one take, but they had to replace one part. The riff and lyrics are simple and are put together with another strong beat. That’s what makes it so catchy. It’s one of those songs that you’ll find yourself singing the chorus to before the end.
According to the band, this song began life as a single line: ‘we can see your underwear from down here’ and the song developed around it. Don’t think the rest of the lyrics are bad, they tell a full story that’ll have you laughing. Full of energy, this song will have you singing along (hopefully not in public) by the last chorus. With a strong beat and clap-along sections, it’s a fun song. The ending is definitely AC/DC like, and the lyrics will probably appeal to AC/DC fans.
There is no bad song on this album. The whole thing is brimming with energy and entertainment. They’re a loud band, while keeping it tuneful; the end result is some of the most fun songs about. It’s also doing a pretty good job of distracting me from the fact that the rain has turned to snow out my window.
